    Unhappy I'm so upset.....UGH!!!

Well, I was so excited today. I even got my website set up just because of it. I woke up and my leo was laying her eggs.. It was her first clutch with me, and they were both fertile!

Well she didn't lay them in her egg box, and they got stuck to the floor of her cage. (where she layed them). They would not come up. We put a damp paper towel over them to keep the humidity on them... Well I kept asking for advice on how to get them up.

Finally I got a reply, and they told me that they had that happen, and to just pull them up. Well I dampened the area around them for 20 minutes, and then I tried to pull them up. Well I wasn't as lucky, and they broke.. I feel SOOOO bad.. I can't even pick up eggs! My first clutch ever was a complete failure....I feel so bad.. .....

I'm sorry hun. Goofy girlie Leo should have laid them in the nestbox... Hopefully she'll lay again soon, and when you notice her starting to get close to laying, maybe you can put her in a smaller enclosure(shoebox rubbermaid or something), so she won't have as many choices. Maybe getting a shoebox size rubbermaid/sterilite with a lid, put down slightly moist paper towels as bedding, give her a nest box with moist moss or whatever else you're using, along with the other necessities, will help her not lay them on the floor of the cage. You use carpet with them, right? Or is it papertowels? Whatever it is, if it happens again, maybe you can take the whole thing out, eggs and all(if they get stuck) and cut around the eggs and put them in the incubator with the papertowel/carpet still stuck to them? Just cut carefully if you do

Good luck next time, it wasn't your fault though, things happen that we can't help. We want to see baby pictures though when you do get more eggs

I feel for ya....Yesterday someone brough in 2 fertile leopard gecko eggs into work. We keep our reptile room at 82, but luckily were also incubating some corn snake eggs right now at about 84 degrees, so I had the task of digging then out of the perilite and placing them in the incubator. Leo eggs are very very fragile! I ended up just bringing some of the nesting material with it, not to risk breaking the egg. Good luck next time!

I am sorry to hear that. Something simmilar happened to me; my goldfish bred last year, and I just caught the tail end of it; they ate most of the eggs, and the filter got most of the rest. I only saved a dozen of the eggs, and only three babies are still alive now.
Don't give up. The thing we can learn from situations like this is, just how hard breeding animals really is. I am currently grinding my teeth wondering why my male rat does not want to breed with his females.. gr..
