Trying to find inexpensive CO2 chamber supplies, would this work?

So I have a 30qt Sterilite Rubbermaid (I swear I thought it was sterilite, exact same design...) container that I can use as a gas chamber (original lid is intact, I have a hole in side for water bottle already, was using it for rat transportation), and was trying to find the most cost-effective method of making a gas chamber.

As a note, please do NOT ask if I am near a [insert store here]. The answer is no. Unless you actually live near Houston/Smithers British Columbia, it is extremely doubtful you know of a store that is near me, so any suggestions of the sort aren't actually helpful.

Anyways, to the actual question, would using something like this produce enough co2 to actually euthanize a bin full of rats?
It uses bottles of baking soda+citric acid (or similar) to produce CO2.

The closest business that refills CO2 that I have found is a 3 hour drive away, although I am (and will be) looking for somewhere in Smithers (which is still a 45 minute highway drive away), but if this works it would be more convenient for me. My other problem is trying to find a regulator for actual CO2 canisters that isn't overly expensive in canada (amazon.ca prices are a bit ridiculous, and the ebay link in another thread I saw doesn't appear to ship to canada).

30 quart is VERY big it will take a lot of CO2 to fill and take too long which means more panic. How many rats do you plan on euthanizing at the time? I recommend smaller kill tank 7 quarts it allows you to do 3 to 4 retire breeders at once and 10 to 30 smaller size rats.

Find a place that sell various gases for hospital or welding supply such as Airgas they will sell regulators and you will trade in your CO2 tank instead of refilling it which is better since those tanks must be re-certified every so often.

I have a 5 lbs tank and it cost me $25 to exchange.

I think that tub is way too large. You're going to end up wasting a lot of CO2 in your process and like Deb mentioned, cause more panic and stress to the rodents. Smaller is better.

Ok, I wasn't sure about the tank size, I am sure I can get something smaller, but again, I am having issues finding a co2 supplier within a 3 hour drive, so I would like to know if making co2 with baking soda and citric acid would produce it fast enough to be effective.

And yes, I read ur whole post. The reason U are not getting an answer in regards to citric acid and vinegar is likely bc thats not been done by anyone here.

May be time for you to research other ways.

I have used dry ice method, its very effective when used in a smaller container. However...I put some water in w my dry ice to get the gasses going quicker.

Also..vinegar and baking soda works well..as I have tried this also..start at beginning of tht thread and I am sure you will find a method tht will wrk for u.
