Re: Archery Bracer
How do you do the design? I have zero knowledge of this stuff.😀

I just LOVE 😍 Quality leatherwork!
You have talent and great skill MM.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

It starts with planning on regular paper (measurements, initial designs, brainstorming, etc). For this particular one, it took me three tries just for the designing. After that the process goes like this:
1) 'case' the leather for stamping
2) trace the design onto the leather using a stylus
3) stamp in leather using bevelling tool
4) use backgrounding tool to make the 'front' designs pop out more.
5) little detailing (veiner, border, etc)
6) metal fixings (grommets or rivets)
7) adding back the oils for an even staining.
8) stain leather
9) paint acrylics
Yep next time I'll post pictures of my mini workbench with my tools since my actual work bench is out of order at the moment.

Sorry for the double post but thank you! I love working with leather and have found that I have been improving so much over the 2-3 years that I have been working with it. 😄

Beautifully done! Honestly, I wouldn't paint it in, since an archery bracer should be worn with the smooth face in and there's the risk of the string slapping the leather and taking paint off. It's beautiful the way it is - and less likely to show damage from the string. You think getting your wrist slapped is bad - I saw a woman shooting a 50lb recurve catch her breast with the string... that just looked agonizing.

Holy moly! Ouch!
Glad my draw weight is only 35 at the moment. I was actually thinking of going back down to 20# only because I'm shaky again. Gotta get my upper strength back. Lol
To be honest I may not use this as my archery bracer. Lol The tooling was just too awesome and I do like shooting off the knuckle. Hmm...this might need some reconsideration. We'll see where it goes. It might just be used for costuming. 😕😜

I hit my forearm with a 65lb compound when I first got it. Looked like I was growing an egg plant under my skin.
