    Any good cheap thermometers/heat controllers?

I was wondering if there are any good thermometers to measure at least the hot spot and regulate BOTH the heating lamp and UTH so that it maintains a nice temp for my BP so it does not get too hot. Something under $40 dollars is ideal. I've never looked into it before but I think it's time to get one, since I have the cheap unreliable stick on ones. Thanks!

I'm not sure but you may be confusing a thermometer with a thermostat. A thermometer reads temps and a thermostat regulates them. When it comes to an inexpensive and reliable thermostat I use Hydrofarms. I've used these for years without any issues. As far as thermometers go I like the acurite models. They're more accurate than the analog ones that stick on.

Can I ask you how the thermostat works? I've never used one

It's pretty easy. Plug the UTH into the thermostat and plug the t-stat into the outlet. I place the thermostat probe between the bottom of the enclosure and the UTH and set the t-stat to the desired temperature. I don't use t-stats on heat lamps though, I prefer to use dimmers with heat lamps.

Why do you prefer dimmers for a che? I have 3 on herpstats and couldn't be happier.

@ Terminal- I like dimmers with IR heat bulbs but t-stats with UTHs, RHPs & CHEs. I don't like dimmers with CHEs because I get too much temperature fluctuation and it's harder to dial in my temps as precisely as I'd like. I prefer IR heat bulbs over CHEs because they help me with night viewing.
