Just feeders and breeders, but still.
So, when I recently picked up some rats to start breeding feeders, one was already pregnant. She gave birth on the 27th to eleven healthy little wriggles. She's not a handled, tame rat, so if there were any that had issues, they were gone before I disturbed her to check on them. I'm hoping to raise some of the offspring to be tame and replace the current breeders with them, eventually. I'm planning on keeping at least two out of this litter - the blue, which I believe is a girl, and the light colored one, which I believe is a boy. Other than those two, there are two browns/whites that I think are called Berkshire, six black/whites that I believe are called Berkshire, and one self black, though I think it has white toes so I'm not sure if that counts as a self. It's just like the mother - solid black except for white on just the toes.
Berkshire marking is white paws and belly, if I'm correct - not sure if they're supposed to have a white tailtip, too, but some do and some don't.

Today, at ten days old. I'm still trying to decide if the light one is cream or white.
Changing every day!

Both appear to be boys, so unfortunately I won't be likely to keep them - the light one - appears to be beige - that I'm keeping is a boy, and I want the other boy I end up keeping to be from a different litter pairing. Which should be cooking right now, going by the festivities of a few days ago in the breeding cage.
The little blue is precocious. She chases their dam all over the place looking for more milk, and doesn't even have her eyes open yet. Looks like a beached seal.
