Probably a stupid question

Will an increase in humidity inside enclosure also cause a rise in temps?
Reason I ask my hot spot under RHP usually runs about 90-91. Since I changed all my substrate ( cypress/aspen) I had a humidity spike, it's down to about 72 now. But my hot spot has jumped to 92-93. I've been slowly ticking it down with Herpstat. My humidity was about 65 steady before I cleaned and re-did cage. Would this be caused by the jump in humidity?

Where is your thermostat probe located? If it got damp, it will throw off the reading of the temperature.

I work in the hvac field and no it wont cause an increase directly it does hold heat energy better than dry air. Maybe what your seeing is the humity holding the heat allowing your heat source to build up better. If you really want to get scientific evaporation has a cooling affect. They say the first type of ac was hanging damp towels in windows and doorways and as the breeze came through would help cool the house through evaporation . Sorry for rambling. There's my two cents.

Probe is on the side below RHP against the wall on top of substrate. My BP never bothers it and I check it every day. Check my temps with gun almost every day.
My second theory is because I switched to a cypress/aspen mix rather than pure cypress the aspen may hold heat better. I tried this because humidity is not an issue in my T8 so figured I'd try it.

When you switched out the substrate, did you pile it a bit higher? Is the probe closer to the RHP?

No it's exactly like it was no change other than the substrate swap. I had found just by keeping the water bowl full my humidity would run 65% I just figured mixing the aspen in 50/50 would be fine and maybe look pretty nice.
