    Worried

    Hi all,

My BP, Shara, hasn't pooped in six weeks. She just shed on Monday (perfect 1 piece - thanks everybody) but only passed urates afterwards. She's had five meals (small rats) since her last poop. I tried soaking her a couple of times about two weeks ago. She peed and passed urates but no poop. Do you think she is ok? I'm starting to get worried. She seems very healthy otherwise and her temps are right on the money (92/84). She still comes out at night and acts like she's hungry. Her last meal was 10 days ago. How worried should I be? Can BP's pass urates if they are impacted? Thanks in advance for your advice!

    Re: Worried

I don't think you have anything to be worried about. An impacted ball python looks like there's a golf ball right above the vent. If she's active and alert and in no obvious discomfort she will likely just pass her stool when she's ready.

With a shed on Monday, something could very well happen in the next couple of days.

    Re: Worried

I used to worry about stuff like that when I first got into snakes...if you are around them long enough you will soon realize that there are individual snakes that like to make more frequent small messes, and others who (like one of mine) like to wait until their poo-threshold is reached, and dump out a kingsize turd for your neighbor's dog to envy.

Don't worry, your snake is just messing with you.

If you are worried and doing something would make you feel better. Make a humid hide and put it in the enclosure. The added moisture might help if you do have an impaction and a humid hide is always something good to have handy to help with sheds, prevent eye dents and dehydration. Hope that helps a bit.

Im half tempted to show the pictures of my Jules' last poop as she had went ~1 1/2 months without anything. It was about 5 or 6 large rats worth. Had to take pictures...

    Re: Worried

Once again Adam you were right on the money. She had a very healthy looking poop last night. Afterwards she crusied her enclosure for a couple of hours. I think she's ready to eat. Thanks everybody for all of your responses.
