Uneven Hotspot Temps?
Hey guys, so I bought an AP rack a couple months back and at first it gave me some troubles with temps. But after a week or so I got it the temps dialed in. But now it is showing uneven hotspot temps. The bottom tub shows a perfect 91 on one side and 96-97 on the other. The middle two tubs show a perfect 91 on one side and 86-87 on the other. Then the top rack show 90 on one side and 85-86 on the other. Has anyone experienced this before? Any tips how to fix it? Thanks.

Are they opposite sides? My rack (Not AP) does the same thing because the tape is snaked through like a big continuous S. There for on side has bottom and side heat where the other only has bottom heat.

Yeah it is snaked through as well. Do you think that would cause a spike?

Re: Uneven Hotspot Temps?
My rack gets higher temps by a couple deg on the side with extra heat tape. If I use my IR thermometer and scan from one side to the other I'll get a variation of a few deg. Also check to see if your tape is flat, or your tubs warped. Really small differences in the gap between your tape and tub would alter your temps as well. As long as you are 90-92'ish on the hot side, and 77-80'ish on the cool side furthest from the heat tape you are doing fine. Your snakes will move as they need to.

Also where is your T-stat probe? It should be somewhere on the middle rack. The top rack will heat up first, and bottom last. Not drastically, but enough to notice if you checked temps from start to finish. This is partially why a proportional T-stat is nice. Once it's hot it'll keep everything even without the rollercoaster of an on off.

Let me rephrase... The rack closest to where your power meets the heat tape should heat up faster. Mine is top hence the description

The probe is in the second slot to the top. The t-stat turns regulates just fine but the hot spot temps are all over the place.

Not sure then other than maybe wavy tape or warped tubs.

Yeah I guess I just have to keep playing with the temps until I find one that works.
