    UTH or LAMPS?

Ok I got my 6' JCP with her cage 36w x 26d x 44h. Made out of wood and plexiglass front. The top has a wire mess cut out and has a 100 watt basking lamp & flourescent uv light. Then I realized that there was no UTH. I know uth's really don,t work with a wood bottom. But also the original owner has had her in this cage since a baby, so maybe one is'nt necessary. Iv'e read just about every care sheet on them and so many conflict when it comes to heating the tank. How do you heat your enclosure? And what is your advice? I was thinkink of cutting out the wood bottom and putting plexiglass so I could put in some heat tape. What do u think.

i don't keep jcp's but i keep chondros and they are similiar. for that setup i would look into radient heat panels sold by helix or pro-panels by bob pound.
alot of chondro guys swear by heat panels as the best choice.

I use a uth's on all my morelia and a light with some while they are young. A carpet python is a semi ab. snake so heating on the floor is good.

How much do JCPs use a branch when they get older? I've heard that they primarily use it when they're young, but prefer to be on the ground when they get to be bigguns.

I have seen that every snake is different as to what they prefer.. I always give them the acrees to a climbing area as they all will use it from time to time...
