Securing a large tub

I have a female normal a 28qt because it sits in a rack and it's escape proof...but she's getting antsy and I know the tub is too small (she's 1500g!) So I need to get her into a 41qt...the problem is she is quite the escape artist and I don't have a rack yet for that size tub. Suggestions? I use a luggage strap in Boots but it doesn't seem to do much good (not that it matters he never goes anywhere).

My best guess of what to do is find the heavist thing you can lift (not to heavy) and put it on a board ontop of the bin. If you want to put it somewhere hight the stack books to the ceiling and place the tub up top so she can only push against the ceiling.

I had to use a large under bed tub for my big blood when her cage was not shipped on time. I used small clamps I got at Lowes. They were in the hand tool area and about $2-3 each. I had four and placed one at each corner. It worked for me.

You can also drill a hole in each corner and even in them middle it needed and use a bolt and wing nut. This will be the most secure but all the slowest to get in and out of.

Then like you already mentioned the luggage straps seem to be a good option. If your really concerned I would put two going and around the long side and another in the middle of the short side. That should keep the lid in place for sure.

Stacking things on top is a terrible idea. Tub lids are not very strong and then once you drill holes through it you make it even weaker.

My friends Boa loves to pop open the top of her tank so we just placed wide, plate sized weights (15-20lbs) on either side of the tank to keep the ceiling down. Works like a charm but make sure they aren't a danger to the tub or snake.

To secure my tub I used two straps of sewing velcro I happened to have on hand. There is also the heavy duty paper clip/clamps you could try.
I did see a video on YouTube of someone who drilled/melted holes through the lip and lid of one side of the tub and put zip ties through them. He secured the other side with a sort of lock but maybe you could use a small keychain clip instead. Seemed pretty sturdy to but I haven't tested it.

I would use inelastic luggage straps or Velcro straps. Also get the latch-type tub with the locking handles rather than a lid that just snaps into place.

you can get some ratchet straps are walmart or lowes. they are stronger and don't stretch like elastic or bungee cords. If you're not comfortable with that, you can pick up some cheap C clamps at the dollar store or walmart. Put 6 or 8 of those on there, and that would work well also. Or, get a piece of shelving or plywood big enough to cover the lid, and place that on top of the tub, then set a few bricks or a cinder block on it. These are al pretty crude methods, but they'll work.

Go to walmart,in the office section, look for wht looks like huge paper clips, not small squigly ones, they look like a chip bag clip..they are black, w silver handles, come in different sizes, and they are made of metal. Clip one on each end and one on each side, catching lip of lid and lip of tub..
