Talking How soon do I need to feed her?

I fed my 1 year old ball python a feeder mouse yesterday , when should I feed her again? I read a few places they can eat more than one of these a week but it seemed like it quite a meal, I didn't think she was going to be able to get it down but she did. So wait another week? I know this might seem obvious but I'm new at this!

Do you know what your snake weighs?
Most snakes are moved to rats in lieu of feeding several mice.
I feed on average every 7 days but will sometimes go longer depending on the size of their last meal, I suggest you wait a week before feeding again

How much does she weight in grams? My one year old male is taking small rats easy, just based on the age I would probably bump up the feeders size to a weaned or small rat. But I could be wrong, all BPs grow at a different rate.

It's hard to say without knowing the size of the snake and the feeder that you gave. But generally I'd says wait 5-7 days before offering another meal. I do agree with Mustang5 though, if possible I'd switch over to feeding rats.

The normal advice I've seen is a meal the same girth as the snake's fattest point (or 10-20% of their weight) every 5-7 days.

I'd guess if you want to build her up then it would be every 5 days, otherwise it might be more convenient for you to feed on the same day every week (every 7 days)

Yes and know providing that king of advice without knowing the weight can actually be pretty detrimental.

The snake is a year old and could very well be 1000 grams does that mean the snake should eat a 200 grams rat every 5 days? Of course not far from it.

To the OP it really depends on the size of your animal without knowing that it's hard to make any kind of recommendation.

I'm not sure of her weight, she's a bit under 3 feet, I just don't think she'd be able to swallow a rat yet but maybe I'm wrong. The mouse was just a basic adult feeder mouse from a pet store. I went in and asked for a feeder mouse and that's what they gave me. I'll try a small rat next time.

Is this animal new to you? Do you have any way of finding out what she was eating before she came into your care?

every week should be good, and yes ball pythons may eat more than one a week, I feed my baby Ball pythons 2 medium large mice and my older ones a medium size rat

I would try that and see how she does. If you don't think she is ready, you can also try a weaned rat which is smaller than a small rat. But I think she could probably take a small rat pretty easy. Good luck!
