    UTH Size?

I have a 36 x 18 x 18 exo Terra I'm setting up & I'm going to place two UTH on the tank. Since I'm using two do I still get the 40 gallon zoomed UTH or do I get two smaller ones. Thanks.

why do u need 2 UTH's? where do u plan on placing the second one?

save your money and u should just get one that covers 1/3 the bottom of the tank for the warm side/hot spot.

IMO your hotspot would be a too hot. and depending on your avg. room temp, u wouldn't need a second UTH for the cool side set to 85. not alotta peeps run an UTH for the cool side.

just follow this set-up guide for a tank and u should be good: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...-With-Pictures!

I'd probably go with a 17x11 uth. I'd also choose an ultratherm uth over a zoomed as they don't get as hot. Even in the event of a thermostat malfunction they shouldn't get hot enough to burn your animals.

I'd also recommend the Ultratherm because it can easily be reused for a different tank if you want. The zoomed might be reusable if you put foil on the sticky side and then tape it to the tank, but ultratherms feel like they're made with better quality.

    I'll second the Ultra therms.
The Reptile Basics offers them in several different sizes.
IIRC, the recommended size is 1/4 to 1/3 of the floor space.

Yes, I did on my coolest tank before the RHP's got delivered (it didn't help much, but then again, they are just designed to heat the floor). The second size up in Reptile Basics looks like just two in one laminate. If your floor space is 36L, I would say you would want the UTH to be at least ten inches wide.

Depending on how much ambient heat you'll need, a 28 watt (or more) RHP might be a good solution from the enclosure's top.
