    Inverted/kinked up female ...

Looking for input from those who have observed several seasons worth of breeding and specifically female behavior. (I attempted to breed this female last year and witnessed locks/sperm plugs/ ect. and it just didn't happen)

A little more current back history on this female ... I have witnessed 6 locks over the last 3 months, she has been fasting since mid Sept (until then never missed a meal [very good eater] .. I started pairing her shortly after she went on food strike), end of October I noticed she favored the cool side of her tub only witnessed her bowl wrapped once / when male was introduced lots of tail wagging and excitement , beginning of Dec. she started refusing the male when he was introduced and noticed she was staying to the rear of the tub over the heat, I have not witnessed an Ovy however I could have easily missed it as work schedule has been funky, this past month and I have not been able to watch her as closely as I wanted, her last shed was 4 to 6 weeks ago, last week I noticed on two occasions she was in a near perfect coil (on the heat), and I just now checked on her to find this .... Opinions please??

Everything sounds like a go for some eggs in your future. If she is staying over on the warm side then you may have missed the ovulation. Her lying inverted like that can be thermoregulation of her body with the eggs. The last shed seems too far back for it to have been a pre lay shed, so I would look for the next shed and then count down. Best of luck to you this season and I hope to some pics of eggs.

I've seen a couple of pregnant female Burmese pythons in that inverted position. IMO, rlditmars is right on target.
