Question Size water bowl needed for a 500 gram BP?

I want to buy a water bowl online for my 500 gram Ball Python. What size what bowl should I buy and I would like if anyone could give me some links to what I need so I can buy it online, it would be appreciated. Thank you!

any waterbowl will do. they just need to drink from it.

beyond that it depends on your setup. Is your BP in a tank with a natural looking set-up or a basic tub with just substrate and/or hide? So do u want a natural rock looking waterbowl or a ceramic/plastic bowl?

you don't really need a big waterbowl unless your BP has mites and wants to soak in it.

    and here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...ake+water+bowl

Edit: BTW how is your BP with the big open wound doing? have u called or gone to a vet yet? i've been online for an hour and noticed you've been on too.

Why would you need to get a waterbowl online? Just go find one at WalMart or a local pet store. I mean, maybe if you had a super naturalistic setup where you wanted everything to look absolutely amazing you'd need to look online, but as far as a functional water dish just find something the snake can drink out of.

I have to go to the next state over to get him to a vet, but he has an appointment for Monday. I couldn't do sooner because I have work today and I can't afford the vet if I don't work. The vet place is also closed on Sunday. She said for now make sure his cage stays warm and give him a warm bath for ten minutes once a day.

    I like these. http://www.amazon.com/Super-Pet-Ston...are+water+bowl

But what I usually use is a 4" PVC coupling with a 16 deli cup as a liner.

I just use heavy plastic pet food dishes from Walmart. About $3 each, easy to clean and sterilize, small enough to fit into a tub sized for young snakes, big enough that they can curl up in it if they want - my male ball loves to play in the water, for some reason. I think he just likes getting his cage liner all wet. I use the same kind of dish for my cat, have one as a food scoop in the dog food bin... etc.

I use the dollar store melamine dog and cat bowls. They're ... a dollar ... and because they're much wider at the base than the top they don't get dumped easily.

Re: Size water bowl needed for a 500 gram BP?

I work at walmart and looked for some but saw non he wouldn't dump. He's dumped literally every other choice. The pet store near me is a rip off, and they have no decent size water dishes except for a baby ball python and they want $23 for that one. Just using a sauce pan as a water dish(works well) but want something better and bigger rimmed so he could soak in it if he wanted to.

If you're as tight on cash as you say, I'm going to recommend not spending more than a dollar on a water dish until you get the wound business sorted out. That has the potential to be a long ordeal and you might be looking at multiple vet visits if it gets infected at any point before healing up.

Don't worry about him needing somewhere to soak. BPs almost never soak on their own. Plus, soaking can be bad news if you're dealing with bandaged or medicated wounds. Washes meds right off and turns bandages into bacteria traps (that's why doctors tell you not to get things wet right after stitching them up or bandaging them).
