    Bush Viper?

So I came across a picture on a photo sharing site of what I later found was a Bush Viper. They look really cool for those of you who know what they look like. I showed the boyfriend and his response was, "want." Because of how cool it looked. He told me to look them up, so I did, and I discovered that Bush Vipers are in fact venomous, but CAN be kept as pets. Our question is: can they be... De-venomated so to speak? Can the venom glands be removed? I did read that Bush Vipers should have an experienced snake owner. I wonder if this is because they can't have their venom glands removed? We are only considering the thought of having one as a pet. This would be good information if we do decide to pursue having an animal like this.

Yes there is such a procedure where the glands are removed.

Now if the animal bite it can still inflict a nasty bite.

Keep in mind that a many vets will refuse to do the procedure so it is often done by people who are not vets.

My take on it if you want to have a venomous snakes it should be intact if you want a venemoid than you probably should not own a venemous snake.

    Re: Bush Viper?

    Thank you much. (:
I do agree with your statement about not owning a venomous snake if it has no venom. It's like... What's the point? Either way, it is something to consider. Thank you again.
