    Field Herping: Eastern Coral Snake!

Every photo I have turned out slightly blurry, so the video was the best footage I could get. So incredible to see them in the wild!

I agree! They are definitely a secretive, beautiful species and I would consider it quite uncommon to find them herping- especially hiking or road cruising.

Very cool to see. I use to see them up around central Florida quite a bit. It is always a rush.

Very cool find. They are really beautiful so thanks for sharing. I once came across one once while walking with my family in Wakiva Springs State Park near Apopka. I was trying to make sure my young daughters could see it when my wife asked what it was. She was pretty freaked when I told her it was a coral snake and venomous. But she could see the snake was clearly trying to slither away so as long as we didn't get too close she let the girls look. It is the only hot I have ever come across in the wild.

If only they would hold still for some photos! I've only seen a few herping in my lifetime (so far).
