    Quick temp question

Just about ready to introduce Walter to his new enclosure. T8 with RHP and herpstat I have a coolside temp of 78F and a hot side temp of 87F checked with temp gun on substrate. Do you think that's pretty good or should I bump it up maybe 1 degree?

I would probably bump it up by one or two degrees

Thanks that's what I'll do. I can tell right now this is going to be a really sweet set up. Before with my zoo-med UTH and VE100 I get a swing from 87F to about 93F at my hotspot. back and forth it swings 5-6 degrees. My temp fluctuation now is in 10nths of a degree and I get a really nice heat gradiant as well.

What are you using to regulate the RHP?

Herpstat 1 in dimming mode. I think that was the issue with the VE100 being an on/off thermostat it was always chasing the temp up and down. Love this Herpstat but it did take me a bit to figure it out, had to post the other day about getting it back on the main screen.
Contrary to some advice Bob at pro products told me to install the thermostat probe on the cool side of the cage and set it for 78 or so for my cool side temp and the warm side would fall into place for what it should be in this cage. So far it's worked out pretty slick.

Yeah, comparing an on/off to any other proportional/dimming are two different worlds.
That temp swing isn't bad or anything to worry about unless you are trying to use it in an incubator.
