Air strike during shed

[Zombies Cry 2]

Quick question Ziggy (normal BP) is going into his second shed with me. I have increased the humidity to about 65% to help him out. This is the 2nd month I've owned him.(He is 7 months old) He ate one day before his eyes going blue. He normally is a very docile snake.
During his first shed right after his eyes turned blue he took a strike in the air at nothing. Yesterday I was changing his water and he came out of his hide and took an air strike.
Is this normal during the shed process. I would assume he's protecting himself due to blurry vision. I do know not to handle him during this period. I just need to know if is something that happens normally during the shed.

I wouldn't worry about it. He probably just got freaked out by not being able to see and was defending himself. Just leave him alone except for routine cleaning and watering and you'll both be fine.

Ill do just that. I knew not to bother him during the shed just thought it was odd he came out of his hide to strike. Normally during normal maintenance I never see him. Thanks for the info.

Both my snakes get a tad more aggressive when shedding the only time I've ever been bit by my corn was when he was in that phase

Yeah - they can be crabby when they're in shed. The only time I've been tagged by an adult was when one of my big girls was in shed and I wasn't paying attention reaching in to change her water. Oops - lesson learned.
