Well, my corn snake Nagini has a new name. At least a new nickname: Miss Baldy. Somehow she lost some scales on top of her head and she has a little bald spot now. I'm really not sure how it happened, I think she may have injured herself trying to escape. I noticed something wrong a few weeks ago, it looked like she had rubbed herself a sore on her head trying to get out or something. I knew she would be shedding soon so I thought I'd wait and see how that went. Well, she shed on Saturday and I immediately saw that her scales were just not there. Obviously I was completely freaked out and wondered how the heck it happened. Check out the before and after:
Before: After:
I took her to the vet today, and she said she thinks there is still a layer of skin there, it doesn't look like there is bone exposed, and she didn't think the wound was open. But she gave me some cream to apply daily to it for the next few months and I have to watch and make sure it doesn't get infected or swollen. She thinks Nagini will be fine, but she'll probably always have that bald spot. I'm just glad she's okay.

Strange! Well, I'm glad the vet feels like she'll be okay. I hope it's not a permanent scar and she recovers her scales.

Yeah, I hope so too. The vet said she might get it back, but maybe not. She's still got a lot of growing to do, so we'll see.

I can tell you what happened with one of my BPs, that was similar.
A few months ago, Ashes had a complete shed. With one problem; two of the tiny brown scales on the top of his head, came off with the shed. The area underneath was white for awhile and then gradually darkened and now you cannot even tell there was anything wrong. I think that, like in your case, there was a layer of skin still there, and bone was definately not exposed. Now if you look at him, it seems the scales have grown back; they are the same color as the other head scales.
Hope your little girl there grows back her scales.
