Field Herping in Ohio (Who Knew Right?!)

I went for a run on one of the trails in my development today and I was quite lucky in finding a lot of wildlife! Here are some pics! Sorry for the cell quality pictures!

Found this little guy crossing the path to get to a pond, I gave him a helping hand and moved him a little closer to the water.

Not a reptile, but I turned the corner of the trail and had to come to a dead stop. The little baby was adorable!

This one was scurrying across the path and into the leaf litter, I was just quick enough to get a picture!

These guys I almost missed and had to do a double take.

I got a close up of the guy on top.

This guy was in my flower bed the other day, he was nice enough to let me snap off a few shots before slithering into a chipmunk hole...

This one is my favorite, I was driving home from the gym the other day, in the rain and noticed this girl trying to cross the road. I pulled over, put my flashers on, picked her up and put her in my passenger seat. (I drive a mustang). I got her home and carried her to a swamp we have a few hundred yards behind our house. I named her Shelly.

    Thanks for looking!
    I've got quite a few...

Nice finds! What is the species of the bottom turtle, Shelly? She's adorable!

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Shelly is a snapping turtle. She made that quite obvious when she tried to take my fingers off! But I couldn't just leave her in the middle of a busy road with no water source in site!
