    Thermostat setting

Does anyone know what temperature differential setting i should put for my thermostat that will control my under-tank heater? Also what type of tape should I use to tape down the thermostat probe onto the under-tank-heater? And where should i put my thermometer probe/how should i hold it down? Sorry for the nooby questions, i just switched from a ceramic heating bulb to the under-tank heater and i just got the thermostat.

    Re: Thermostat setting

Everyone's setting is different it not only depends on the t-stat itself but also the type / brand of uth, type of enclosure, type and thickness of substrate, ambient temps etc.

You need to set YOUR t-stat on whatever allows you to achieve optimal temp inside you enclosure.

I have several type of enclosure and not one setting is alike even though all my t-stat are the same.

    Re: Thermostat setting

Guess i'll have to experiment. So just to be sure, the differential setting is just the degree difference from the set temp that the thermostat turns on and off at though right?

Also what type of tape should I use to tape down the thermostat probe onto the under-tank-heater?

Foil Tape for any and all heat-related taping. You can get it off amazon http://www.amazon.com/3M-Foil-Tape-3...ords=foil+tape

And where should i put my thermometer probe/how should i hold it down?

Between the bottom of the tub/glass and the UTH. I just followed this tub setup guide http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...e-Basics-*DUW*

    Re: Thermostat setting

do you think it wuld be a bad idea to just superglue the probe inside the cage? I don't have that tape and i'm doing this all right now.

Yes. The probe doesn't go inside the case at all. Superglue or not, it will still not be effective inside the enclosure.

Again, proper placement is on the outside sandwiched between the heat source and the bottom of the enclosure.

I'm talking about the thermometer probe, not the thermostat probe. So is superglue a bad idea?

Ah... That makes sense. I still wouldn't. It's not the most conducive to cleaning your enclosure or changing things up if you have the thermometer probe glued in place.
