    Too high of heat

I'm wondering what bad effects can happen when the tank gets too hot? The ambient temperature in the cage reached 100 degrees with 1 light on due to the fact it was 96 degrees outside today. I misted the tank multiple times to try and drop it down and keep it low 90s but and just wondering what can happen to the animal if for some reason it happens to maintain that temp.

Why wouldn't you just turn the lamp off? Too high of heat will probably make your snake very uncomfortable and could pose some health risks. Just leave the lamp off if it's that hot outside and you don't have an air conditioner.

I did turn off the light after I noticed the temp that high, it's just I read the temps should never be over 92-93ish.

You can provide more air circulation. But really, they need ambients around 80. 92 should be your hot spot. It can literally drive them crazy and it will kill them. They will soak in water to try to cool off. Seriously though, is your tank outside to have hit those temps....?

    Re: Too high of heat

No my tank is in my living room, it wasn't hot when I left the house this morning and wasn't supposed to hit as high as it did today so I left the windows open in my house. When I got home first thing I did was go to the cage and saw the temps so shut the light off and misted to bring the tank down its been holding at 87 ambient since then with no lights on.

I would suggest getting an air conditioner for the room you keep your snake in. Set it at 74 or somewhere around there, and then you can leave your light on without worrying about the temperature.

Scary... I've never had windows open unless I was home to monitor it. Too much risk to the animal. That room in particular needs to be temp controlled man.
