    Keeps soaking

Hey guys I've had a male pinstripe ball python for 3 months now and was told he was 6 months old when I got him. He eats large ft mice once a week, and seems for the most part to be healthy. He seems to spend a lot of time in his waterbow Temp on hot side is a steady 91 degrees from heat lamp and uth. Humidity hovers between 50-60%. He will sometimes stay in there for what seems like all day. I've checked for mites, but have found nothing so far. Am I over reacting?

While BPs generally aren't known for soaking, I have still had some that enjoy it and do it often. Keep checking for mites, and make sure your humidity is truly up near 60%. You could try putting a humid hide in the cage and see if that helps. Damp sphagnum moss in a Tupperware container with the lid, and a hole cut out for entry/exit of the snake works wonders. Is he pre-shed? Do you see milky eyes?

What's his cool side temp and how are you measuring your ambient temps? He might be too hot and therefore soaking.

The UTH might be the culprit

How is it thermo-regulated? Is the light always on? Do you have a photo of your setup? How are you measuring your temps and humidity and where are the sensors?

Soaking is usually mites, or inadequate hide. If both are out if the question, then you have a swimmer lol
