New to Ball Pythons

So I just got a ball python in January this year. So far he seems to be doing well; he's eating regularly and has shed just fine.

One issue I had when I first got him was I couldn't get the humidity to stay in an acceptable range. So I got a humidifier for the tank and after that point the humidity has been just fine. My question is every now and then when the humidifier kicks on I'll hear almost like a hissing noise from him a few mins after its kicked on but when I look he seems just fine. My question is why does he make this noise?

The humidifier is on a timer:
From 12am to 6am it comes on every two hours for 4 min
After 6am it comes on every hour for 15 mins until 6pm
After 6pm it comes on every 2 hours for 4 mins

Well I dont use a humidifier but i might invest in one as I too have a little issue from time to time with the humidity.. Ball pythons are very shy in nature and virtually anything will scare them.. Some BP's are known as Flighty and will ball up when something scares them however; the Fighty ball pythons will tend to hiss and assume the strike position before balling up.. Most of the fighty one's are just great actors/actresses and will ball up when you actually come to get them. So i would assume in your case especially if your BP is young he is just scared and has more of a fiesty personality.. As time goes on he will get used to it and should be just fine..

If I remember correctly, the guy I got him off, family friend, said he was about a year and a half old. But that makes sense from the stuff I've read online about their personalities. I just wanted to double check that the humidifier wasn't hurting him or something. And surprisingly enough when I go to pick him up he doesn't do anything. He'll shy his head away a little bit but usually he just stays in whatever position he was in.

This is the humidifier I have and it works great! The top cap comes off so you can get a fitting from Home Depot or Lowes that fits extremely tight in the hole. I was worried when I got it that I was gonna have to use glue to keep everything together but I didn't have to as everything makes a very secure connection w/o leaks.

Looking at the link i have a question about that humidifier.. does it come with a tub or something you can point towards the cage or do you just place it in the general area of the enclosure?

I'll post a picture of my setup in the morning. Its currently night time for Rally and I don't want the camera flash to do anything.

But the way I have it is I have tubing, got it at ACE Hardware, going from the humidifier, where the rotating piece is (it's not attached), to the tank.

Snakes tend to whistle more with moist air. Make sure you're not making it too humid.

Thank you! Now that someone said "whistle" it does sound more like that than a hissing noise.
