Ok I bought a lamp dimmer last night because i was battleing the temps in my Gecko tank and now with that I have them set perfect. What I want ot know is can I hook a Human heat pad to them and or the Repti UTH since basicaly all a dimmer does is reduce the amount of electricty to the source. If I can this i will help out alot with my hide temps. for both my BP's and Boa's since I constantly battle them.

    Lamp dimmers

    Short answer is YES.

    Are they in-line or plug-based?

dimmers will work fine. the only problems with dimmers is when the room temps go up and down the cages will too. if your room is constant dimmers will be fine. if room temps vary alot go with thermostats.

I keep my temps at a constant 77* I really like the way the dimmers are working for me so far. Plus I check all my tanks atleast twice a day so even if the temps shift a little its not for long periods of time.
