thermostat to a human heating pad

i just ordered the 500 watt thermostat from LLLReptile.com (the $14 one)...and i am using it to regulate a "Dunlap human heating pad" that i got from walmart. How do i go about hooking up the thermostat? I am only asking because the heating pad itself has 3 settings (hi med and low) so im not sure what to do with these. Anyone have experience with the same type of setup??? :roll:

plug the thermostat into your wall outlet. plug the heating pad into the thermostat. turn the heat pad on either low or medium or whatever setting you used without the thermostat. set the thermostat to the desired temperature. give it about an hour to even out and then check your temps on your accurite or other digital themometer. if it isn't hot enough you may just need to up the setting on the heat pad so that enough heat is being produced. adjust your settings until you have your temps steady where you want them to be.

and once i get it to where it should be, since i have a thermostat it will stay consistant now????????

yes it will remain consistent within a few degrees. i.e., if the room temperature rises or falls quickly the temperature in your tank may vary a few degrees until the thermostat adjusts for it.
