If you are in the US good luck. Very few have been successfully produced over here and they fetch a premium lowest I have seen is 1600.

That is what I am starting to realize. :-(

I met an awesome Eastern Shingleback who is in his early 30s and loved him. I cannot find them anywhere let alone any other type of Shingleback. Is there any way to import them?

Nope, Australia is very very strict about their export laws, thats why we dont see many easterns, westerns or centralians, or even blochies, only northerns. Thats not to say someone isn't breeding them, but from what I understand they have incredibly small litters so the odds of getting one are pretty tough. Northerns showed up here and people were successfully able to breed them, all Aussie Blueys and Shinglebacks for sale in the US should be captive bred, and honestly it takes patience to even find a Northern for sale, most breeders have waiting lists. You generally find Indos and IJs for sale because they are still able to be imported, a lot of times they are "farmed" or WC.

I've got a friend who has one, and has had it for many years, they are incredibly cool animals.

I know that Casey Lazik has them on his website, I don't know how successful he's been with them.

I think you are looking at at a $1500 / $2000 range but I could be wrong.

    Love those guys.

And as Mark mentionned Casey Lazik work with them.

    Found this on his site

"At this time, I am not offering any for sale. On the contrary, I am looking for more legal, captive-bred Shingleback Skinks."

They can not be exported from Australia but they are available. I have one but I am not in Australia. This is because there are breeders outside Australia, and I believe they can be sold between countries, just not from Australia. Like mentioned above they are very expensive. I got mine 5 years ago I paid equivalent of over 2000 USD for her. That's what they wanted for it and wouldn't budge on price. I went back to the store several days a week to handle her, I loved her so much. Then I finally decided to take her home as a christmas gift for myself.

They also had a pair of rugosa rugosa there, and they stayed there for a couple of years, no one bought them. Then one day I went in there and there were two babies! The store owner said that some guy from overseas had already paid the deposit for the parents months ago, but he gave back the money before shipping because he realized the female was gravid. Dunno if that is right or wrong business wise but the babies wrre adorable.

I asked the guy where all the shinglebacks were coming from, and he said some guy was breeding them but hit hard times and just sold everything off at once.
