    Help with cut scales :(

    Hello all,

I've been worried about my girl. About a month ago she cut herself on a metal piece of my couch when she was crawling around. There wasn't any blood but I noticed a cut and put polysporn without steroids on her for about a week. Then she shed and now I'm getting worried because it hasn't gone away and doesn't look good. I've started polysporn again.

That being said it doesn't look worse, nothing's changed. I hope it's just a scar and one day with sheds it will go away or does it look like there is another problem? Infection? Start of scale rot?

    Thanks!

It does look like some kind of infection.

Ah yeah that's what I am afraid of. There is no puss, liquid or anything really. Just the red looking dry scales. Keep using polysporn? Should I try the commercial repti-wound product. Is a vet trip necessary yet?

I wouldn't really mess around with possible infections as they can lead to blood poisoning. I'm not saying that's the stage you're at but it's something to keep in mind.

Thumbs up Re: Help with cut scales :(

You have already treated it with polysporin and it still hasn't responded to treatment. Also, you are still concerned so just take her to the vet. Maybe it isn't serious but let the vet be the judge. Why keep guessing? That snake is beautiful, just make a appointment. If we, as humans cut ourselves on metal it usually requires a tetanus shot or a booster at the least. Keep us updated! Don't forget to donate to USARK so we can defeat that "lacey act". Stay in peace and not pieces. Good luck.
