quite confused + question
i thought some abbreviations were confusing but then i started looking through boa based threads and got quite confused really quickly, because there are so many different types, (i think lol) and regions and stuff like that, so if someone could post a list of sorts of differnt boa abbriviations and what they stand for i would be so thankful
Also, many different people talk about how their "boas" seem to be interested in them when they enter and come up for handling, i was wondering if this was common for only boa constrictors, or if it was common in other breeds of boas as well.
thanks a ton, still no snake yet. money comes slowly, thanks for the info

They're all boa constrictors. Its just subspecies like BCC, BCI, BCA, BCO and some others. I think mostly the temperament is the snake itself. My normal BCI girl is like a puppy dog that LOVES to come out and be out 95% of the time. My sunglow BCI is new and a baby so I don't quite know her personality yet but so far she is really relaxed and calm as well. You can get overwhelmed with all the locality boas. Honestly you cant go wrong with a boa.

Re: quite confused + question
so what does BCI and the other things stand for then? And do the localities have size differences? how big are BCI's?
thanks

BCI=Boa Constrictor Imperator
BCA=Boa C Amarali
BCC=Boa C Constrictor
BCO=Boa C Occidentalis
They are all Boa Constrictor and then the last part is the subspecies. Yes subspecies have different sizes. BCI generally are 5-7ft for males and 6-8ft for females with exceptions of bigger ones. If you are looking for smaller ones, check out Cay Caulker and Hog Island boas. There are others but those 2 seem to be the most common of the smaller ones and BCI is the most common of all the boas in the pet trade.
