I use 2 heat pads underneath my rubbermaid, and it is far from melting. Hasn't even tried to warp. I would worry about the reptile heating pads since they have to actually be stuck to the bottom of the enclosure, well, if you peel the paper off and stick it to the bottom. I like the human heating pads just because they are cheaper and don't seem to have any hot spots; I had my hands on both pads for awhile and didn't feel any places that were warmer than the others. I don't know, I just feel like my snake is safer with them. I've had her for a whole 2 days and she seems happy Switching back and forth between the hot/cool side.
I really do need to take pictures of her when she settles in, she's gorgeous IMO. I'm very happy with what Don picked out for me. Anyway, good luck with the rubbermaid, no problems with mine so far.

Heating pad will not melt the rubbermaid. I have a rubbermaid and use a human heating pad. You just create a little bit of space between the pad and the bottom of the enclosure.

So do you put one on the cool side on a low setting and one on the hot side on a higher setting ?? that sounds like a good idea.

Yeah Brandon, both of my heat pads are on low, but one runs hotter than the other, makes the hot side around 93-94 and the other makes the cool side run 81-84. I need to get some thermostats sometime since it's going to be getting colder and I don't want her to get too cool at night. Especially since she will be moving over to my boyfriend's house and he lives in a 1930-1940's house with wood floors, so it's kind of chilly in there. We will probably end up turning the heat up because we have hairless rats and they get cold pretty easily. One heat pad was just not doing the trick, so I found a second one laying around and it works great.
