    Dead mouse!

So.. I'm still pretty new to this & I've got a quick question.. Today at 2 I went to the pet shop to purchase our ball Lewiss some lunch (live hopper). They bagged it up in a paper bag & we came home. I put the bagged mouse on top of Lewiss's enclosure so he could get a little of the residual heat coming from the heat lamp and not freeze in the bag on a shelf.. Fast forward to about 25 minutes ago (6pm) and I'm ready to give the snake his meal, and the mouse is DEAD... Should I offer it anyway? Why did it die?? My gut tells me to take it back tomorrow & get another, but I feel bad because my snake is out & looking for a snack! He's still a little guy & we've been feeding him every 6 days.. What would you do?
