Old Man Cheynei
Well, as some folks know I have this 1996 VPI male JCP I got a few years back that was kept as a display pet by his previous owner. I liked his classic jungle look and picked up a 2011 Nick Mutton female hatchling to raise up and hopefully pass his genes along.
I tend to raise my snakes on the slow side and wasn't expecting her to be ready for another year. At the start of 2015 she was an easy 6 feet but not nearly as girthy as Old Man Cheynei. Over the last few weeks this has changed rather quickly. She's still not as thick as my male but has swollen tremendously for such a short time. I was expecting her to gradually add girth this year but at this rate I'm guessing the little lady is building up some follicles.
Who am I to deny nature? I put them together last night and when I checked back in an hour they had a solid lock. They've taken a breather or two but have been locking steadily for the last 24 hours now. Here's to hoping something comes of it, or at least the excitement not to cause Old Man Cheynei's heart to explode so he can try again next year.

That's a pretty nice deal you've got going on there!
I hope you end up with a nice clutch at the end of it all.
I like that deep black with the nice yellow bands.

They both look like they'll create nice babies for you. I like the way he's looking at the camera though "BUZZ OFF we're busy here!!!"

That's one the the things that drew me to the old male in the first place. He has very little yellow tipping leaving the black between his bands very velvety. The female has more tipping in the black but her bands have no black tipping. Should make for some interesting variety in the clutch.

They got pretty good at the locking bit over the weeks. I'd typically only leave them together for 24 hours, separate, feed the female a small meal, wait a week for next intro.
The female started to refuse food two weeks ago and their last introduction was the first one during which they didn't lock. Looking in on her the other day I see this poor uncomfortable girl. Looks like I'll be counting down to eggs after her next shed.

Think that's going to be a pretty cracking clutch if all goes as planned!
