    Flexwatt burning on half

Today when I checked to see if last nights dinner was regurgitated I noticed some whistling so I picked Palm up to check for mucus as I read to do. I think he may be about to go into shed so hopefully I'm right and no RI. I did however notice a pink line on his belly. I decided to check the hotspot with temp gun and one side where he was resting read 90 but the side with bedding on it still, read at 95. Is this hot enough to burn? The thermostat is set at 94. He never goes on that 95 side.

Sorry for any blurriness it's the best my phone could do

From the looks of his size and the location of the line, what you're seeing is probably his belly button.

Be careful: "He never..." have been famous last words a few times. If it were me, I'd turn your thermostat down to around 90. They really don't need much hotter than that for proper thermoregulation and it gives you a bit of cushion before you start approaching that 95ish F danger zone.

No it is not keep in mind that human body temperature is 98.6 therefore not hot enough to burn anything.

Now as far as providing 95 it's really over killed 92 max is more than enough

You're referring to the normal core body temperature (98.6 F), which really only applies if you're planning on swallowing your ball python.

    Skin surface temperature actually varies with ambient temperature - at 73 F ambient it's about 89 F, and at 91 F ambient it's about 95 F.

That makes sense. I didn't know snakes had belly buttons, that's actually really cool. But what is this? Please don't say scale rot.

He also has some similar stuff on the front of his lips and the back of his lips where the jaw ends. The front of his lips are brownish
