Strange eating events

I tried feeding Goblin a nice big (but not too big) fresh-killed rat last night. He got into feeding position, but just would not strike. So I tried a smaller rat I had that was about a third smaller than rat number one. (this one was fresh killed also) and he went for it without hesitating.
The bigger rat was definately not too big for him. But maybe he saw it as too big? He just kept looking past it as if it were not there. It was not an issue of it being too cool, as it was freshly killed. So I just tossed the big rat into the freezer for my friend's boa later on.

Was it bigger than what he ws used to? He may have seen it as too big. It happened with one of my guys, Sphinx, the first time i fed him ( not that this is the first time you have fed Goblin ). It wasnt too big, but he went after the smaller one rather than the one that was bigger.

Kitty did something similar once a couple of feeds after I started him on small rats. The next feed he started to again so I put then in a small shoebox together and within the next hour said rat was gone. This last time I though he was going to do it again, instead he slithered around and then found the head and just started eating, no constrict, no strike. I wonder what he will do this time?

well if you were holding it by the tail making it look taller that could have been the reason!!
