heat bulb for bp?
So I'm making my ball python a new enclosure. I have a great mat on a thermostat set at 92, but it doesn't raise the ambient temp much. The temp in the room stays between 68-72. I want up to about 78-80. What wattage heat bulb should I get, and should I get a red bulb or a regular bulb? Thanks for the help.

What size is your tank? Tank and bulb size are closely related. I have 40g breeders and prefer to use zoo meds day night combo packs. They are easily available and usually cheap. But, through many bulbs and sizes i found that i have to use 75w daytime and 60w night time to keep my temps where i like them. Reds put off alooot of heat and a cool night lighting while the day is more clear/blue and doesnt put off as much heat as you'd think....
Note that adding bulbs will mess with your humidity levels.

Being you have good uth you may not need very hot/bright bulbs

Get a ceramic bulb. Start with 150 watts.

If you did a foil top a good 60-75w day bulb would do great. Probably same for your red or a little lower strength

I have a blue bulb on 24/7 but on a dimmer switch. Keeps the ambient temps good
