    Python Fell

So my ball python fell from the table and now I am wondering what this is... I don't know if he had this before or not now I am unsure. I don't think its a belly button as for its size but I might be wrong...

    Anyone's input is appreciated

It looks like a little slice in the scales, it's possible that he tried to grab onto the table a bit and damaged the scales a bit. How deep is it?

I agree, looks like he got sliced. If you didn't notice any blood then it I most likely just scale deep.

It isn't real deep and I didn't see any blood I even played with it for a bit by lightly rubbing it and I didn't get any blood out of it. How would this affect him going forward what should be my next steps becides watching it to make sure it doesn't get worse.

I am not an expert but my personal experience with any scale issues is that if it does not get any worse then it will get better with each shed until it is normal again.

Personally, I'd keep him on a nice and clean substrate until it looks to heal up a bit (likely during the next shed if it is actually some sort of cut). Paper towels or newspaper would be my advice.

I'm sure he'll be fine. Biggest take-away for you is likely going to be to start doing a quick health & wellness once-over when you take them out for handling. That way you know in the future if something like this is new or was there to begin with.

Yes indeed... Learned my lesson on that one, my others I know like the back of my hand this little guy is our newest addition so we really haven't handled him much and what a way to bring him into the family with a fall, I feel horrible.

Don't beat yourself up over it. Like you said, it was a learning experience. I personally like to play it safe with my snakes when it comes to handling...at least until I know their habits well.
