What happens when you try to unthaw a mouse in the microwave? I've been told not to do it but I'm curious as to what happens.

It cooks, just like anything. Cooking the rodent definitely isnt a good idea as it could explode

mouse+microwave=DONT EVEN FREAKING THINK ABOUT IT.
i'd advise you not to try it unless you really want to experience the joy of scraping pieces of steaming rodent intestines off of the microwave walls.

Tell ya what, if you want to simulate the experience ... put a raisin in there for about 5 mins on high and see what happens

I put one in once because a friend wanted to know why you can't microwave them... I took it out before any explosions happened, but my uncle's house smelled like rotting rodents for a loooong time... luckily for some reason he didn't notice  The rat was all like, liquidy and floppy and its extremeties were all gross and dried out... and it STUNK! Don't try it

Microwave explosions aside, the actual reason that you should not microwave a frozen thawed feeder is because the microwaves will slightly cook the meat on the rodent. Your ball python is not designed to break down cooked flesh. I know that impaction is one of the problems that your snake could suffer and I've heard that the cooked portion of the rodent can actually rot inside your snake, but I'm not sure how true that is.

    Hope this helps.
