:(
A couple weeks ago I found a lesser genetic stripe in LLL reptiles that I loved so I brought him home. He was acting a bit funny but I figured it was just stress from a new home. He was refusing food and he kept "peeing" a brown liquid. I seeked help and I was told he could be dehydrated and to soak him regularly. So I did. Well last night after his soak I took him out and he was really lethargic. A few moments later he started doing this weird movement where he would curl up and make a kink his body then move the kink to to his head and then open his mouth and make a gurgling sound, and some thick mucous would come out. I knew that it had to be a respiratory infection so I quickly got my things together to bring him to a vet. But within 10 minute my big boy was dead :/
I did everything I could and I feel like I did everything right when it came to care for him. He showed no signs of a respiratory infection before last night. I own 5 other bp's and they're all extremely healthy. What did I do wrong???
I'd like some help and advice for if this ever happens again in the future. I don't want to lose another snake.

Sorry for your loss, sadly the only way to get answers is to get a necropsy done, it's very important especially considering that you have other animals.

Re: :(
Yea I got a kingsnake from LLL at an expo and it died after only 11 days. Their health guarantee is only 24hours from when you bring it home from the expo lol.
EDIT: sorry for your loss, but yea, I'd just chalk it up as a lesson learned. I'd trust them for supplies but not for their animals. Lesson learned.

This x2. I've heard plenty of horror stories just from these forums about health issues from LLL.
I've purchased supplies in them from the past, but that's all it will ever be.
Sorry for your loss though. That sucks.

Re: :(
I've got 3 of my snaked from there and all 3 had mites and this one died weeks after. I don't have much of a choice to go there for rats because they're the only place around that sells live. And most of my snakes refuse frozen.
But thank you everyone for the help. It really sucks to lose one.

Re: :(
Was he in a closed container of water? Sounds like he drowned.

Re: :(
If you don't mind, PM me with further details (which specific location you bought it from, who you spoke with, etc). I am personally happy to try to figure something out for you. We have sold about 500 ball pythons just in the last month, and have had literally 4 issues. A few of which popped up on facebook and one here. It is rare to see issues with balls, especially to lose one considering we don't have any that are brand new hatchlings right now, so when there are issues we are more than happy to listen and help (regardless of our written guarantee, as each situation requires unique attention, and we bend rules all the time to help customers out. Simply letting us know is the most important step).
PM me and we can go from there. Thanks.
