When I cleaned Cuetzpalli's tank this weekend, I realized I had some cool shells and rocks that I was not using. I put them in his tank and he immediately took to the shell. Previously, he seemed to be comfortable with hiding out his days behind plants but he loved the seashell. His head would be hidden in the shell and his tail would be hanging out.
So, yesterday I decided to cut a door shape into a planting pot and set it upside down in his tank. Needless to say, he loves it! He has spent all day inside. I was wondering if anyone has experienced similar behavior? I realize in their natural habitat they look for a nice place to stay cool and hidden from predators but I wasn't aware he'd take to a fully hidden hide, like a ball python.
P.S. I couldn't really get any pics, the house is behind branches and leaves.
