I'm worried my snake is on death's door

Due to my terrible husbandry which has since been corrected, my little guy got burned on his belly. It looks much worse and I'm honestly at a loss as to what is going to happen. I just want to know if anyone has ever had their snake come back from a burn like this.

Also I am currently moving my animals to FL and will be at my destination tomorrow afternoon. I plan on taking him to a vet there ASAP but I really want to see what you all think. Just testing the waters to be able to go in to the vet with a good idea of what may happen...

Are those yellow scales puffy and swollen or dried out?

I'll let someone with burn experience help you out with those, but is your snake tongue-flicking and wrapping around you when you pick him up? If a snake is really on death's door they'll tend to be more non-responsive. Hopefully he's responsive and you won't have to worry as much till he gets to the vet.

Ive seen worse burns than that recover. It will take time and you are going to have to keep your husbandry on point.

The scales are still swollen... I've been keeping him dry and clean and on paper towels. And yeah he's pretty responsive so far.

Re: I'm worried my snake is on death's door

My snake had a burn - he burrowed to the glass one day which he never has done in 2 years ... I had the UTH on the outside of the tank, but it was unregulated (my mistake) - his burn wasn't as deep as yours and he needed injections every 3 days and a cream to restore the skin etc. There's a chance this gets infected on the outside then your looking at spreading to an internal infection. I would get him to the vet asap as you said. He's fully healed and back to normal now, with some scarring in the bad spots.

    I wish you luck
