    What should I do

So I have 7 Ball Pythons, I have a local breeder for rats 20 minutes from me where I can get rat pups at .90 cents each and his small rats are $1.00 each. I can buy one or 200 if I want and he will use Co2 on them for me at no charge. This said , would it even be cost effective for me to raise my own colony? I feed once a week to all but couple of the snakes will eat twice a week. Should I stop thinking about raising my own rats?

    Thanks

    Re: What should I do

At those prices, and only seven snakes, I wouldn't bother with raising my own!

Those are some dang good prices!
The cost of raising rather than buying from him would only maybe be a small bit less depending on the availability of supplies around you, but then you would have all the work of keeping them clean.

You're really getting a steal at that price, no sense in giving yourself more work when you've got such a great, and what seems to be reliable, source of feeders!

It really comes down to how much your time is worth. I pay more than the prices you listed for mine, but between my day job and small business, my time is very limited. Even with 60-ish snakes in the house at the moment it's not worth it for me to raise my own feeders.

    Re: What should I do

Thanks for the replies , that's what i figured . Just needed to hear it, I am going to be building a snake room in my basement and was trying to figure out if I should plan room for rat racks and ventilation.
