I feed my mealies whole wheat bread and oatmeal. They shed tons eating that stuff and they are nice and fat when I feed them off. The waxies eat the same stuff, but I give them a piece of carrot every so often too.

I'm not sure about the mealworms, but I did have a little food in there for the crickets. I don't remember what I used though, it was about 10 years ago so I'm sure that the stuff out there has changed. I didn't use a heat pad for mine either. I had a full spectrum UV bulb on during the day with a spot light shining over a flat rock for a basking area and then had a red heatlight on at night for them.

ok, whole wheat bread and oatmeal, thats easy enough
now about the red light. Is it absolutely needed ?? If it is ill definitly get it but ittl be a pain since it will be kept in my room.
I think ill just buy the bulb itself becuase i already have the lamp, ill just switch out the differnt bulbs when the time comes.

No, it's not needed. I just used it so that I could have 24/7 heating. If you have a heat pad, it would be fine to use. Just like a BP setup I would put a hide both on the warm and on the cool side. If you don't have a heat pad, you can also buy a ceramic heating bulp that would screw into your lamp. They don't emit any light, however they're kind of pricey (about $20-30 I think).

ok, yeah i have an extra heating pad that i use for warming up mice and rats so maybe ill buy one more so i can keep that one for that purpose.
i think instead of housing it in one of my extra ten gallons ill just buy a nice big rubbermaid.

Yeah, I always like giving more room too. I kept my two (make and female) in a 30 gal long terrarium and they did great in it.
Oh, and if you feed them crickets, pull up a chair and bust out some Mission Impossible music. They're really fun to watch hunting and pouncing on the crickets.

haha, yeah i think it will actually be fun to watch unlike when i was feeding live mice to my snake, i hated hearing the little mousie scream and then have to deal with the danger of it biting, but crickets are differnt, it should be fun.
there is a rubbermaid at wal mart that is basicly the same size as a 30 gal but its not as high, but its wider, so i think ill just get one of those and make my little guy a palace
