Keep them in Racks, or move to Boamaster Micros

I have a decision to make, what am I going to keep these snakes in? I have 8 snakes, 7 bps and a Dumerils, and they've been in racks for the last few years. I have 5 empty BoaMaster Micros, equipped with ProPanels.

I love being able to see the snakes, and when I purchased the pro-panels, I spent about an hour on the phone talking with Bob Pound (super guy, in my experience). He mentioned that somehow the panels have health benefits that the other heat sources don't.

Anyway, the micros measure 30x16x12 while the tubs they are in measure 36x16x6. So they're not losing much floor space or length. I'd only put my 4 that I'd breed, the spider, pied, het pied and cinnamon, plus one other, in the micros, and would still need one rack for the others.

I am finding the racks rather convenient, especially for the two snakes that need handfeeding (of course one of those is the spider I'd put in the boamaster). But managing temps seems easier in the boas, as well as the benefit of being able to SEE the snakes, and not having to slide their whole world out everytime I wanted to check on them, that has to be a bit disturbing!

Thanks in advance for your input!

I've been debating between racks and enclosures... But with the dimensions you wrote, the tubs have more floor space. So between those two, personally, I'd pick the one with more floor space. Six inches doesn't SEEM like much, but that's 6in less of space for them to lay on. They spend 80+% of their lives in there(assuming you get them out periodically), I'd think every inch counts to them. I decided on "huge" tubs for my ball pythons for that exact reason. I think they need more space than just 48qt tubs. This or larger is what I'm looking at http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000M3...110_SY165_QL70

Those look great! I like how they have a gullwing kind of lid. I guess that would make checking on them a lot easier, only having to pull half the tub out to open it...

Those definitely up the game on convenience and give at least half again as much floor space as 41q the girls are in.

Unfortunately, I don't have racks that would accomodate those at 6.5 inches. I have 6 and 6 1/4" tubs that do fit tightly. So I'll have to make do with what they have.

In my situation, I could see the possible habitat enrichment in the BMASTERS as an offset to the smaller floor space, but I see an argument for "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I'm waiting on these to arrive:

I want mine to have the option of climbing if they want to. I'm also hoping I'll be able to go back to Reptibark substrate as more space for humidity to rise. I think I'm going to leave space for the lids to be able to open without taking them out of the rack. With the clips on the ends and a few clips like used to hold chip bags shut on long sides. They weren't in stock so had to order and right now they are in the same footprint but 6".
