Anybody here have a hedgehog?
I love my little hedgie 😊
Does anybody else have one?
I've only had mine for a few months so if any veterans have any tips it would be greatly appreciated.
Right now I have her in a big rabbit cage, feeding her Reduced Calorie natural balance cat food with mealworms 2-3 days a week.
I keep her on Harlan Teklad aspen (same aspen I use for my snakes) and it works great, but it seems to make her itch a little bit. Is there a better bedding for hedgehogs?
Any input would be greatly appreciated

I recommend looking into bin enclosures personally. I found my boy was much happier once I gave him a bigger cage (about the size of a twin bed tbh)

Re: Anybody here have a hedgehog?
I haven't kept one but the wild hedgehog that lives in my neighbourhood is insanely sociable for a wild one, all the neighbours call him Reg the Hedge and I've even been able to pet him. From my limited experience offering any slugs and snails of the types that are safe to eat for them is fun, although my problem is my tortoises despite not being supposed to get much protein eat the snails for the calcium. That said I suggest cat food and no milk, milk makes them ill. I found that letting the wild one approach me and set the tone of what he wants does wonders since none of us have ever been bitten.

Haha! They’re surely adorable, but can have QUITE the attitude and need so much attention. It’s honestly pretty crazy haha. Worth it tho

When I shared those adorable pics, I got this back: https://youtu.be/bCOaDiU1kKE
I love the tip about using coconut oil on a toothbrush to gently brush the dead skin out of Wilbur's spiky back, lol.
