    Weird film over eyes

I just purchased a ball python online and it looks to be in great shape except for a sort of film over her eyes. Here is a picture of her head (http://imgur.com/hJ9owUy) , if you zoom in on the eye you can see the film that I am talking about (no that's not reflection).

Is this a sign of an unhealthy python or could it just be extra skin that didn't get removed last shed?

Is there anyway I can go about treating this?

Looks like retained eye caps (shed skin over the eyes). I would soak your kid in luke water for a bit (20 minutes or so) and then see if you can use a q-tip to gently wipe these away. Sometimes all they need is a little extra moisture.

That's what I thought but I wanted to get a second opinion. I don't want to damage the snakes eyes in any way.

If anyone else has any ideas of it being something else, please let me know. I don't want an unhealthy python and I want to do as much as I can to ensure that its kept in good care.

I'm very relieved that everyone is agreeing that its just eye caps. Do you recommend the same method of removing them as ladywhipple?

I don't have a problem with soaking the snake, but I really want to avoid touching their eyes. I don't want to injure the snake, I would feel absolutely terrible

I would avoid touching their eyes. If anything goes wrong, injury/infection is a very real possibility. Also, go ahead and browse through this thread - http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...hed-No-problem - and see if that method helps your little one. Other than that, I would simply wait until the next shed cycle and ensure humidity/temperature are where they need to be to have a successful (complete) shed. The caps will come off then.

I would recommend leaving them. They will probably come off with the next shed.

There's very little upside to correcting a problem that will probably correct itself, and a lot of downside to messing with your snake's eyes.

If they don't come off with the next shed, you can consider what to do next, but until then I wouldn't do anything except make sure the humidity is up where it should be.

Thank you all for the posts! I am going to leave the snake alone and make sure it has the right environment so next shed can go perfectly.
