i'd reccomend at minimum something with the dimensions of 4x2x2, preferably something in the way of 5x3x2.....i'm just not sure of the dimensions of a standard 55gallon tank

Babies dont require the same amount of space as an adult. I would stick with the general consensus of total floor space in square footage = the length of the snake. When the boa gets to be an adult, you will need at least an enclosure that is 4x2x2.

Compadres, it is imperative that we crush the freedom fighters before the start of the rainy season. And remember, a shiny new donkey for whomever brings me the head of Colonel Montoya.

A 55 tall will probably last him around a year and a half maybe 2 years. So if you havnt bought the 55 gal yet, I would recommend you spend your money on building a larger enclosure. They really arent that expensive to build and then you wont have to buy twice. If you already own the 55 though, it will work just fine for a while.

I'd just recommend building a custom enclosure like green man said, it'd save you more trouble in the long run i think.
