    Pied/Pastel Pied

I have very little/no experience with pieds and actually picked up my first two girls earlier this year. The first is currently about 800g (the bottom right of the pic) and is fairly dark. The other girl is 1200g and noticeably lighter with more yellow (upper left). I do not have a reliable history with her, I received her in a trade from someone just keeping ball pythons as pets. She was traded to me as a pastel pied, but Ive never been sure so Ive been calling her just a pied. This is the best comparison pic I could get. Both girls are cruisers and hate holding still for a pic. Any votes on pastel pied or regular pied? Just normal color variation in single gene pieds?

I'm pretty new to morphs but I think pastels have blushed out markings. Idk if the pied gene would change that at all but I don't see any blushing in her. I'm going to follow to see what more experienced people say

    Re: Pied/Pastel Pied

Pieds dont really have blushing, so I dont think you can tell that way. Ive seen pattern differences in some of the lower white pieds, but since shes higher white that isnt helping me much.

    Re: Pied/Pastel Pied

That looks a lot like a pastel pied to me. The yellows are too pronounced to be a normal pied, but please let more experienced people chime in 😊

It would help if we could see the head of the probable pastel pied.

Best pictures I could get. Another comparison and a close up head shot. Not the best pics, but both these girls are....spirited

My pied looks a lot like yours high yellow and low white, she resembles all of the pastel pieds I see posted but was sold to me as a regular pied. I remember the breeder telling me "she looks like my pastel pieds but I can tell the difference from the head" so I would really like to know the difference also. I would say that yours looks like a pastel pied also since she's alot lighter than the other but I have nothing to back that up. That's why I said earlier that I want to know a detailed explanation of how to tell the difference
