a rose hair is nothing to be scared of. The one thing i can say about my T is its never, ever, ever tried to bite me, or get agressive. I dont really handle the spider, but occasionally i'll have to pick it up and put it in another enclosure while i clean its regular tank.

Yeah I echo the reccomendation of a rosehair for a first T. While like everything else there are individual exceptions to the rule they are really docile. The pinktoe not too bad either, but their sheer speed can be disarming - especially as compared to a rosehair - a sudden burst could spook ya. Rosehairs by contrast are more slow and deliberate movers, the only way mine ever comes close to a burst of speed is if it feels a burst of air from wind or being blown on. They are also pretty ubiquitous - you'll find them for sale maybe more than any other and relatively cheap ($10 or so). When/if you get one ignore the pet store and get rid of the sponge in favor of a shallow little thing of water. Rosehair are very hearty as well and do just fine in a nice arid environment so finally humidity is not a concern lol.

They are really cool and interesting I would suggest you to get a rosehair I have only had good expierences with them nock on wood. If you already own snakes this will be an easy step for you because you are probably already very open minded. And it just adds to the fun they are very different then snakes and creat new things to observe and learn. I don't think pink toes live as long but there about even care wise and temperment.
There is no pleasure in having nothing to do; the fun is in having lots to do and not doing it.

I am debating King Baboon or Usambara . . . .

the kings are slow growers and the usambara are very fast and nasty. i've kept and sold both. they are cool though. adult kings are awesome display T's.
thanks
