    Air Freshners in Snake Room

Just a quick question for you guys.
What do you guys use to keep the smell down in your snake rooms? It wasn't much of a problem when I only had a couple however now with 12, going on 14, I've been looking for something to cut down on odors. I wish the room had wood floors because I know the carpet probably collects a lot of scent. I haven't wanted to use febreeze or anything because I'm not sure what kinds of chemicals are in there. I'm a nurse and we use this great product at work that smells amazing and is apparently all natural. I bought a can to put in the room, but I'm just wanting some input. I'll post a picture of the product soon. Thanks in advance!

I don't smell anything with mine unless someone has poo'd...

Totally. Like I said, I think because they've been in the room for so long, the carpet has sucked up a lot of the smell. I use paper towel substrate and clean once a week, but I find later in the week, especially if everyone has spaced out their poops, it gets a bit gnarly. I've used a carpet cleaner and steamed the carpets which works for a while but it always comes back. Super annoying!! Would putting a box of baking soda in there somewhere help at all?

Clean daily or at least every other day if a snake went #2. You can also try a non-ozone HEPA filter and UV-C air sanitizer in the room.

I wouldn't use an air freshener, these guys only have one good lung and if it gets badly damaged, you can write off that snake.

You could also try those Scentsy things as they dont produce super amount of smell, And nothing is being "burnt" to smoke or vapor but a melting wax, I know they are safe if eaten by pets, and or children, iv ran it for 2-3 days once, when on my my snakes Hid and burried his Rat. and day 3-4 was the most Fowl smell of Death. Took a good scrub down, So now i frisk there substrate when looking

That stuff should be fine; it's not ideal to have the snake room constantly getting chemical scents thrown into it, but spraying that if you're about to go in and work or if you have people coming over is not bad.

Baking soda may help, especially if you vacuum it into the carpet.

You may just need to swap out your tubs for new ones, or clean the cages more thoroughly with bleach or another strong cleaner; the smell with only a dozen or so snakes should not be so strong that it is clearly noticeable. I've had 12 in a closet with the most noticeable odor being that of fresh bedding put into the cages, or that delightful smell of a fresh poop.

If a snake goes clean it. That's what you do to keep the smell down. If you leave it for a week that's your own fault your room smells. I got 26 reptiles. The room never smells bad unless something goes to the bathroom. It's always good so that let's me know a tank needs to be cleaned.

Re: Air Freshners in Snake Room

It's not like I leave poo in there for a week. I do spot cleans when it needs to be done. I just do a tub wash weekly.

I really think the carpet has a lot to do with the smell
