    My (formerly) dedicated mouser-

Finally took a rat. We've only had him since February.

I have no pictures, I have no evidence, I don't even have a reason why he suddenly went for it.

I want to do cartwheels and shout from the internet rooftops, anyway. All those mice were getting *really* freaking expensive.

You are sooo lucky. My one pinstripe male is a mouser, and all attempts to feed him rats have proved to be in vain. I managed to trick him once, but not since, and I've had him over a year and a half!

It was actually pretty strange, because I've tried various tricks and gotten nowhere and he's always been my WEIRD eater. Reliable, doesn't miss meals often, but lazy and odd (no striking, lazy coiling - that's gradually improved over time). I tried smaller rats, scenting, feeding a mouse then offering a rat - and I got nowhere. This time I pretty literally just took the rat I thawed for the other BP's meal tomorrow and offered it to him. He took it, struggled some getting it down his throat, freaked me out a tiny bit (don't swallow the rat on its SIDE you twit) and that was that. I'll likely continue to feed him a day before the others just so I don't waste food if he refuses, but hey. *He ate a rat!*

I was getting real sick of feeding 3+ mice to him in a week. That gets expensive, fast.
